A Mile in Their Shoes

There was a shooting at a local school today. Although I'm a homeschool mom, because my daughter plays sports at the local high school, I received one of the automated calls this morning, that all schools in the district were in lock-down because of an incident somewhere. A short time later, my daughter heard about the shooting.

As a homeschooling mom, my kids weren't part of the lock down. I wasn't terrified that one of them might be a victim in this latest shooting. But my daughter has friends who attend Freeman. I have friends whose children were there this morning. I heard ambulances and fire engines racing to the call.

And my heart is heavy, knowing that for one mom, she said goodbye to her child for the last time this morning before school.

Gun violence is no longer nameless or faceless. It hit really close to home...

Praying for all affected, though my life has not been greatly impacted. I understand, for a very different reason, the shockwaves of grief. Guessing you can relate, even if the circumstances are different. Please "walk a mile" in these grief filled shoes, and let that lead you to prayer for all those whose lives will never be the same.
